67 percent of Central Africans live on less than 1 dollar a day

The share of people living on less than 1 dollar a day is higher in the Central African Republic than in almost any other country in the world. For 67 percent of the population daily purchasing power does not surpass a dollar. Only in Mali and Nigeria is the share of the the population living in extreme poverty higher than in CAR (World Bank, 2002).
