Aid organization representation in CAR grows
Nov 7th, 2007 by Tino Kreutzer, HDPT CAR
The number of humanitarian and development organizations present in the Central African Republic (CAR) continues to grow rapidly. Since August 2007, new offices were opened in the north-east and in Sam Ouandja to support the refugees from Darfur.
The Danish Refugee Council, Action Contre La Faime, and the Norwegian Refugee Council set up representations in Bangui and Ouham prefecture, respectively. Triangle, IMC and UN agencies have set up proper offices in Sam Ouandja, Haute-Kotto prefecture, about 60km (40 miles) east from the Sudanese border.
NGOs or United Nations agencies are now present in 12 out of 17 prefectures. The Humanitarian and Development Partnership Team (HDPT) has just released a new map with all current offices in Central African Republic to reflect these changes.
Note: Office locations do not necessarily coincide with project locations, but still give a good indication of who is working where.
