Aid organization representation in CAR grows
Jan 22nd, 2008 by Tino Kreutzer, HDPT CAR
The number of humanitarian and development organizations present in the Central African Republic (CAR) continues to grow. Since November 2007, new offices of ACTED, IRC and the United Nations were opened in the north and north-east of the country.
International Rescue Committee (IRC) set up a new presence in Bocaranga while the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) is now located in Bangui and Kaga-Bandoro. The United Nations opened a joint office in Ndélé, raising the number of UN representations to nine throughout CAR.
In total, there are now 22 international NGOs and 11 UN organizations. For a full list of organizations please click here.
NGOs or United Nations agencies are present in 12 out of 17 prefectures. The Humanitarian and Development Partnership Team (HDPT) has just released a new map with all current offices in Central African Republic to reflect these changes.
Note: Office locations do not necessarily coincide with project locations, but still give a good indication of who is working where.
