Security Sector Reform Seminar: Day 4
Apr 18th, 2008 by John Ratcliffe, UNDP
17 April 2008
CAR’s historic security sector reform seminar came to a close Thursday evening with President François Bozizé declaring that the government would work to abide by the timeline established by participants.
This timeline lays out specific activities to be undertaken over the next two years and identifies the main ministries and official bodies responsible for implementation. Based on the work of the National SSR Committee and on seminar proceedings, the timeline gives a clear sense of where SSR is heading in CAR, as well as identifies areas for future partner engagement.
UNDP Resident Representative Toby Lanzer and EC Head of Delegation Jean-Claude Esmieu pledged ongoing support for the SSR process, and both cited the need for the government to honour its engagements as a means of attracting more international partners.
